Five Terrorists Killed in CTD Operation in Bannu

BANNU : In a significant blow to terrorist networks, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu Region and local police jointly eliminated five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation against Fitna-ul-Kharij in Bannu district on Thursday.

According to police officials, the operation was launched based on actionable intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. When security personnel approached the location, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire upon sighting them. Security forces responded with effective retaliation, resulting in the death of five foreign terrorists. Several other terrorists, however, managed to flee the scene during the exchange of fire.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area, and a comprehensive search and clearance operation is currently underway to apprehend the escaped terrorists.

Police sources confirmed that the identification process, criminal profiling, and forensic analysis of the slain terrorists have been initiated. A significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from their possession, including five Kalashnikovs, ten magazines, five bandoliers, two hand grenades, and a large quantity of ammunition.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Additional IG CTD extended their congratulations to the CTD SWAT team and local police personnel for the successful operation, lauding their professionalism and bravery. They emphasized that intelligence-based operations against Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists, their facilitators, and support networks will be further intensified.

“The blood of our martyrs will never go in vain,” stated the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Operations will continue uninterrupted until the complete elimination of terrorism from our soil.”

The successful operation marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region, with security forces remaining committed to rooting out extremist elements.
