MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday called for a negotiated solution to the ongoing unrest in Azad Kashmir, warning that prolonged instability could undermine the broader Kashmir cause.
Addressing PPP office-bearers and election ticket holders in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal said the situation in the region had remained a source of concern for the past month. He urged all stakeholders to find a middle ground to prevent further escalation.
“We need to find a balanced solution so that the Kashmir cause does not suffer,” he said.
Without naming JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman, who used abusive lanagauge regarding armed forces martyres, Bilawal said that “Pakistan Army Is Our Red Line”.
Bilawal said any injustice or hardship faced by Kashmiris deeply affected people across Pakistan.
“If Kashmiris suffer, we feel their pain,” he said. “We stand with them in their difficult times.”
He said Pakistan had a responsibility to fulfill its commitments to the people of Azad Kashmir. He added that continued instability would weaken efforts to advance the Kashmir issue internationally.
Bilawal also praised Pakistan’s armed forces, saying criticism of the military was unacceptable.
“The armed forces are our red line,” he said.
Referring to last year’s military confrontation with India, Bilawal said Pakistan’s armed forces had delivered what he described as a decisive response to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also said the international community recognized Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and praised what he called the military leadership’s strategic vision.
