ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is struck by another profound tragedy as a boat packed with passengers capsized and sank in a fast-flowing river in Swat.
The catastrophic incident, which took place in the scenic Saifullah Lake in Swat, has resulted in the confirmed deaths of five individuals, while four others remain missing.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Swat, Mohammad Omar Khan, the boat was overwhelmed and swept away by a powerful, fast-moving flood torrent.
Rescue teams have successfully recovered five bodies from the waters in Mahodand, while an active search operation continues to locate the remaining missing passengers.
Locals noted that the disaster mirrors a tragic incident from two years ago that went viral on social media, where members of a single family stranded on a rock formation were progressively swept away by ferocious floodwaters.
