Balochistan Ignored in Federal Budget, Says Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch

Dr. Malik Baloch raises alarms on kidnappings for ransom

QUETTA : National Party chief Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has strongly rejected the federal budget, alleging that Balochistan has been ignored in the fiscal plan while the province’s resources are being used to run the federal system.

Addressing a condolence reference in Quetta to mark the anniversary of party leader and former Balochistan Assembly member Shaheed Henry Masih Baloch, Dr. Baloch said helplessness, unrest and insecurity have reached their peak in the province.

“Nothing has been allocated for Balochistan in the federal budget, although the federal system is running with the resources of the province,” he said, adding that instead of a federal democratic state as per the Constitution, the country has been practically transformed into a “security state” where the parliament is powerless, the judiciary is limited and the media is under pressure.

Dr. Baloch termed the murder, suicide within a family and the acid attack on Dr. Mahnoor in Quetta as serious social tragedies, saying ordinary citizens, including women, are suffering from severe insecurity.

He further said that the PDM parties have turned away from democratic values by compromising, and the situation in Balochistan is getting worse due to the use of force. He clarified that the National Party fully supports the demands of the Grand Alliance and called on the government to increase employee salaries in line with inflation.

The condolence reference was addressed by National Party Central Secretary General Mir Kabir Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, Provincial President Aslam Baloch, District President Haji Atta Muhammad Bangalzai, Member of Balochistan Assembly Kulsoom Niaz Baloch, Chairman Boyer Saleh Baloch, Chairman Mehrab Baloch, Anil Ghauri and Sonia Khurram. The duties of the director were performed by Riaz Zehri.

Paying tribute to the martyred leader, speakers said that by taking away the people’s right to vote, unrepresentative assemblies of Form 47 have been formed which cannot bring the country out of crises. They said the solution to the country’s problems lies in true democracy, supremacy of the Constitution and giving provinces their constituti onal rights.
