Mirpur Women Urge Public to Reject AAC Unrest Narrative

MIRPUR: A large group of women held a press conference in Mirpur on Monday, calling for peace and stability in Azad Kashmir and announcing a boycott of the outlawed Awami Action Committee, participants said.

The press conference was held at the Kashmir Press Club under the leadership of several women activists, including Ms. Kishwar Naheed (Muslim Conference), Naila Shakur, Chairperson of the Awami Party Naseerain Farooq, and social media activist Tamana Hanan Lone, along with other female leaders.

Speakers said Azad Kashmir remained a peaceful region and warned that the banned Awami Action Committee was spreading unrest and tension. They said there was no space for elements that promote division and instability.

The participants urged the public to remain alert against groups they said were attempting to create social discord.

Women leaders said the relationship between Pakistan and Azad Kashmir was historic, ideological, and rooted in public sentiment. They said it could not be weakened under any circumstances.

They added that Pakistan had always supported the development of Azad Kashmir and worked to improve basic infrastructure and public services.

Speakers said the people of Azad Kashmir supported peace, development, and stability. They said citizens would reject any behavior that disturbed law and order or created unrest.
