YDA Balochistan Boycott Enters Second Day, OPDs Remain Shut in Govt Hospitals

QUETTA: The Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) Balochistan has continued its boycott of all medical services except emergency care for the second consecutive day in government hospitals across the province.

The boycott has caused serious difficulties for patients under treatment as well as citizens visiting outpatient departments for consultations.

The protest follows an acid attack incident at the surgical ward of Civil Hospital Quetta, where a hospital employee allegedly threw acid on a female doctor. The attacker fled the scene, but police later claimed that the suspect was killed in an alleged encounter.

YDA leaders said the protest and boycott will continue until their demands are met.

The association has called for the removal of the Secretary Health Balochistan, the Medical Superintendent, and the hospital’s security in-charge.

Doctors’ representatives also demanded the formation of a judicial commission to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident.

They stressed that ensuring the safety of doctors and medical staff is essential and that the government must take concrete steps to provide a secure working environment.

Meanwhile, routine services including OPDs remained severely affected, causing inconvenience to patients and their families.

However, the YDA said that emergency services in hospitals are continuing as normal.
