DERA BUGTI: In Dera Bugti, unidentified armed men opened fire outside a court due to an alleged old enmity, killing tribal leader Vadera Sobazi Rahija Bugti and injuring Miran Karmazi Rahija Bugti.
In a separate incident on the same day, attackers shot and killed a man named Sanaullah in the Loop area before fleeing the scene. In both cases, the police shifted the victims to the hospital, handed over the bodies to the families after legal formalities, and registered cases to apprehend the suspects.
Targeted killings and violent crimes in Balochistan are deeply rooted in a complex mix of tribal, social, and political dynamics.
A primary factor behind these incidents is the long-standing tradition of tribal enmities and blood feuds, which often pass down through generations and result in retaliatory violence outside formal legal institutions.
The vast, rugged geography of the province, combined with a limited law enforcement presence in remote areas, creates security vacuums where armed groups and criminals operate with relative impunity.
Furthermore, prolonged socioeconomic underdevelopment, high unemployment, and weak institutional governance exacerbate local grievances, pushing individuals toward lawlessness.
The overlap of tribal rivalries with a volatile security landscape makes maintaining sustainable law and order a persistent challenge in the region.
