Israel announces major military operation in Lebanon despite ceasefire

Israel has announced a major escalation in its military operations in Lebanon despite an existing ceasefire agreement between the two sides. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that military attacks against Hezbollah would be intensified in the coming days.

In this regard, Netanyahu claimed that Israeli forces had already killed more than 600 militants during recent operations. However, he stressed that further action was necessary to weaken Hezbollah’s capabilities.

He said Israel would continue increasing the scale and intensity of its military campaign.

Israeli media reported that the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for several areas in Beirut, raising concerns among residents about the possibility of wider military action in the Lebanese capital.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that airstrikes targeted Hezbollah positions in the eastern Bekaa Valley as well as other regions of Lebanon.

The latest developments have further increased tensions in the region, particularly as Lebanon and Israel had earlier agreed to extend a 45-day ceasefire arrangement at the beginning of this month.

Despite the agreement, intermittent clashes and cross-border attacks have continued, keeping the security situation unstable.

Meanwhile, international calls for restraint continue as fears of a broader regional conflict rise. The situation remains tense, with both sides closely monitoring developments on the ground.
