ISLAMABAD : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Australia, naming fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi as the team captain.
The selected squad features several notable inclusions and high-profile returns.
Promising young talents Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, and Rohail Nazir have been drafted into the team.
Meanwhile, premier batsmen and bowlers including Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, and Sufiyan Muqeem have made their comeback to the national side.
The 16-man roster is completed by Sahibzada Farhan and Shamil Hussain. With the gloves, Muhammad Ghazi Ghauri and Rohail Nazir have been selected as the designated wicketkeeper-batters for the series.
Several key players will miss out on the action due to fitness issues.
Top-order batsman Usman Khan was not considered for selection due to illness, while destructive openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub remain sidelined as they continue their respective injury rehabilitation programs.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia is scheduled to be played from May 30 to June 4, with matches hosted across venues in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
