UTTAR PRADESH: A unique incident in medical history has taken place in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where a 31-year-old woman gave birth to four children over a span of five days.
According to Indian media, Amna, a Muslim woman from a village in the Sambhal district, delivered the four children through normal delivery — two sons and two daughters — without undergoing surgery.
Hospital officials reported that Amna, a resident of Owari village, gave birth to her first child on May 9. The remaining three children were subsequently born on May 14.
Doctors noted that despite the pregnancy being declared high-risk, the birth of all four children was successfully achieved without any surgical intervention.
The head of the medical team, Dr. Shubhra Agarwal, stated that this is the first case in the hospital’s history where four children were delivered normally.
According to hospital officials, the newborns have been placed on ventilator support as a precautionary measure. However, their condition is stable, and the mother is also reported to be healthy.
Dr. Agarwal further explained that when the ultrasound report confirmed the presence of four children, a special team was assigned to closely monitor the mother throughout her pregnancy.
Doctors had initially advised reducing the number of children in view of the risks involved, but the family decided to continue the pregnancy.
Amna thanked the doctors and said that she and her children are doing well. Her husband, Muhammad Alam, added that the medical team had handled the case with great care and skill over the past several months.
