SANGHAR: One person was killed after a passenger train collided with a mini truck near a railway crossing close to Shahdadpur railway station, officials said on Monday.
According to railway officials, the deceased was the driver of the mini truck. The vehicle was struck by a Pak Business train traveling from Karachi to Punjab.
Officials explained that the train was passing through the level crossing when the mini truck suddenly came in front of it. Initial investigations suggest a brake failure caused the truck driver to lose control; the vehicle reportedly broke through the gate and was hit by the oncoming train.
Following the accident, railway officials confirmed that the passenger train has been stopped and the up-track (the line used for trains heading away from the main terminus) has been closed. Authorities are currently on site, and further investigations are underway.
