TURBAT: Security sources on Monday categorically rejected recent claims made by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and associated social media accounts affiliated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) regarding alleged attacks on a Frontier Works Organization (FWO) site and a security forces convoy in Balochistan, labeling the reports as a “barrage of fake news.”
According to official security sources, the BLA falsely claimed that armed persons attacked an FWO site in the Lilen area of Turbat, alleging that four workers, including a security personnel, were injured, weapons were confiscated, and vehicles were set on fire.
In a separate fabricated narrative, BLA-linked accounts also claimed that a Pakistani forces convoy came under attack while attempting to advance in the area, asserting that “several personnel were killed and injured.”
Security sources have since debunked both claims in their entirety, categorizing them as baseless propaganda.
Officials noted that the disinformation campaign comes amid rapid developmental strides in Balochistan, particularly in mining and technology sectors, which are enabling the province to take its destiny into its own hands.
According to sources, the fake news is being disseminated under the “strategic directions” of BLA and BYC’s foreign masters, who are described as “getting increasingly nervous” over Balochistan’s accelerated progress in resource extraction and technological modernization.
“The propaganda is a clear attempt to create a false impression of instability in the mining areas of Balochistan,” a security source said. “No such incidents occurred. These are deliberate fabrications designed to mislead the public and malign Pakistan’s development efforts in the region.”
Security authorities have urged the public and media to verify information through official channels before disseminating unsubstantiated claims aimed at undermining law and order in the province.
