RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Asim Munir, has called on Afghanistan to take decisive action against terrorist centers operating from its soil, focusing on that Pakistan will continue its fight against terrorism until the complete elimination of militants threatening the country’s security.
Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that terrorism remains one of the biggest challenges facing the region and stressed that no country should allow its territory to be used for attacks against neighboring states.
He said Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan authorities to dismantle terrorist hideouts and prevent militant groups from carrying out cross-border activities.
The army chief confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and maintaining peace within the country. “It is our responsibility to protect the people of Pakistan,” he said, adding that the armed forces would continue operations against terrorists wherever necessary.
He noted that the struggle against militancy would continue “until the last terrorist is eliminated from Afghan soil.”
In this regard, Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s security forces and civilians in the fight against terrorism over the past two decades. He said thousands of Pakistanis, including soldiers and innocent civilians, had lost their lives in efforts to restore peace and stability.
These sacrifices would not go in vain, and Pakistan would continue to pursue every possible measure to secure its borders and national interests.
The statement comes amid growing concerns over rising militant attacks in border regions and increasing tensions related to cross-border terrorism. Security analysts believe Pakistan’s latest position reflects its determination to intensify counterterrorism efforts while urging regional cooperation to address security threats.
The Pakistani leadership has maintained that lasting peace in South Asia depends on collective action against terrorism and stronger regional coordination. Analysts say the latest remarks underline Pakistan’s message that combating terrorism is not only a national priority but also essential for regional security and development.
