WASHINGTON D.C. :The Wall Street Journal has reported, citing American officials, that Israel has established a secret military base in the Iraqi desert to conduct military operations against Iran.
According to the report, the clandestine facility has been home to Israeli special forces and is also being used as a logistics center for the Israeli Air Force. The newspaper further stated that search and rescue teams were present at the base to provide immediate assistance in the event of an Israeli pilot’s plane crash.
The report detailed a confrontation in early March, when Iraqi army personnel approached the base. In response, Israeli forces allegedly carried out airstrikes to keep the Iraqi personnel away, aiming to prevent the base’s secret from being exposed.
