Punjab Braces for Severe Storms and Heavy Rainfall Alert

LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather alert for northeastern Punjab, warning of dangerous weather conditions between May 11 and May 13.

According to the department, “super cell” storm systems are expected to develop in several parts of Punjab during this period, which could lead to extreme weather activity.

Cities including Lahore, Kasur, Pattoki, Sheikhupura, Okara, Narowal, Sialkot, and Gujranwala are likely to experience strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall.

Weather experts warned that some areas may also face hailstorms and lightning strikes, while powerful winds could pose risks to weak infrastructure and vulnerable structures.

The Meteorological Department has placed the concerned district administrations on high alert and advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the expected weather conditions.
