Iran Accuses US of Ceasefire Violation After Airstrikes on Islands

TEHRAN :  Iranian state media has reported that the United States has violated a ceasefire, with a senior Iranian military spokesman accusing Washington of carrying out airstrikes on civilian areas and targeting Iranian vessels in strategic waterways.

The spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iran’s primary military command center, alleged that the US conducted airstrikes on civilian areas along the coasts of Khmer, Sirek, and Qeshm islands in coordination with several regional countries.

According to the spokesman, the US targeted two Iranian ships, including an oil tanker near the Jask area inside Iranian waters. A separate Iranian vessel was also reportedly struck in the waters off Hormuz, opposite Fujairah port.

In response, the spokesman said the Iranian army immediately attacked US military ships located east of the Strait of Hormuz and south of Chabahar port, inflicting “significant damage” on them.

The spokesman issued a stark warning to the United States and its allies in the region, stating that Iran “will respond forcefully to any aggression without hesitation.”

The claims, carried by Iranian state media, have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate comment from US

officials.
