Trump claims Iran agreed to give up nuclear weapons

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has agreed to give up its nuclear weapons, among other conditions, and that a deal is possible.

According to a BBC report, Trump, along with several UFC stars, suddenly called journalists to his office where he answered various questions and expressed hope that a deal would be reached with Iran.

Trump said that Iran wants to make a deal, that there have been good negotiations in the last 24 hours, and that it is very likely a deal will be made. He stated that Iran agreed, among other conditions, that it will never acquire nuclear weapons.

The report added that the US president also indicated that the claim circulating in US media about a 30-day deadline for finding a solution through negotiations is subject to revision, adding that “there is never a deadline.”

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said that the proposals made by the US are being reviewed so that an agreement can be reached to end the war. He clarified that for serious negotiations, sincerity is necessary rather than dictation or threats of bribes. He added that as soon as a final opinion is formed on the American proposals, Pakistan will be informed in this regard.
