India may attack Pakistan before its general election: Dastgir

ISLAMABAD :  PML-N leader Khurram Dastgir has claimed that India could potentially launch an attack on Pakistan in 2028, ahead of its own general elections. Speaking on Samaa TV’s program ‘Nadeem Malik Live’, Dastgir asserted that New Delhi would seek to use external conflict to shape its domestic political narrative.

“After the defeat India suffered at Pakistan’s hands a year ago, it is certain they will attack. India’s elections are due in 2029 – I believe they could strike Pakistan in 2028 to prepare the ground for their electoral battle,” Dastgir said.

He described the previous year as “miraculous” for Pakistan, claiming a sharp rise in the country’s diplomatic reputation. “India has not witnessed such a terrible year in the last three decades. This is Allah’s grace. At the time of the battle of truth, we had leadership in the form of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who accurately analyzed the changing international situation and conducted diplomacy accordingly,” he added.

Dastgir further alleged that even the US President was accepting Pakistan’s requests to an extent that “memes are being made about it.” He also dismissed India’s actions in Pahalgam and Pulwama as “false flag operations,” stating that New Delhi had failed to present evidence in its own courts.

Responding to the claims, Major General (retd) Tariq Rashid delivered a blunt message to India: “India will not dare to attack Pakistan. If India tries to attack Pakistan, it will suffer an even greater defeat than before.”

The remarks have added to heightened rhetoric between the two neighbors, though no official response has yet come from Indian authorities
