Iran Says Nuclear Issue Not in Negotiations

Iran Offers Peace Deal to US for Stability in Middle East

TEHRAN :  Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqai has dismissed media reports claiming that a proposed 14-point deal with the United States includes a 15-year suspension of Iran’s nuclear program, calling such news false.

According to Iranian media reports, Baqai rejected recent claims – including those aired by Al Jazeera – that Iran had offered to halt its nuclear activities for 15 years as part of a broader understanding with Washington.

He further stated that no proposal exists for the US and Iran to jointly clear mines in the Strait of Hormuz, another claim that had appeared in some outlets.

“These are things about which I believe a false report has been made through the imagination of a few media outlets,” Baqai said.

He explained that Iran’s main diplomatic and security focus at present is to prevent aggression across the region, particularly in Lebanon. As far as decisions are concerned, he added, they will be made at the appropriate time – but the nuclear issue is not part of ongoing negotiations.

Baqai also confirmed that the United States has delivered Iran’s 14-point response through Pakistan, and that Tehran is currently reviewing it.
