Araqchi: Diplomacy Possible If US Changes ‘Threatening Tone’

Iran FM looks to more nuclear talks, but warns US

TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has declared that the path to diplomacy remains open, but insisted that the United States must first alter its “threatening tone and expansionist behavior” for any meaningful engagement to take place.

According to official statements, Araqchi held telephone conversations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, and Azerbaijan. During these calls, he briefed regional officials on Iran’s stated steps aimed at ending the ongoing war with the US and Israel.

“We are ready to keep the path to diplomacy open,” Araqchi said, reiterating that the key condition is a change in Washington’s approach.

Separately, the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Pakistan has been designated as the official mediator in any potential talks between Iran and the United States. The ministry added that if a final decision is made to hold negotiations, it will be formally announced through official channels.

No immediate response was available from US officials regarding the Iranian foreign minister’s remarks.
