LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Saturday rejected social media reports warning of a so-called “heat burst,” clarifying that no such weather phenomenon is occurring anywhere in the country.
In an official statement, the department also dismissed claims linking the ongoing hot weather to a “Super El Nino” condition, confirming that Pakistan is not currently being affected by any such climate pattern.
According to Met Office officials, the prevailing heat wave is part of the country’s normal seasonal weather pattern and does not constitute an unusual or extraordinary situation.
“The current temperatures are within expected ranges for this time of year. There is no exceptional weather event underway,” a department spokesperson said.
The public has been urged to avoid unverified information and rumours circulating on social media platforms, and to rely only on authentic sources, including official Met Office announcements.
While denying any abnormal weather event, the department assured citizens that timely notifications would be issued if any unusual conditions develop. However, officials reiterated their advice for the public to continue taking precautionary measures against the ongoing heat wave, including staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and checking on vulnerable individuals.
