May 2026: A Month Full of Holidays for Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD: May 2026 is expected to be a highly significant month for people in Pakistan because of the large number of public holidays, weekends, and the possible Eid-ul-Adha holidays. Reports suggest that Pakistanis may enjoy between 11 and 19 holidays during the month, depending on workplace policies and moon sighting for Eid.

The month will begin with Labour Day on Friday, May 1, followed by the weekend on May 2 and 3, giving people a three-day break right at the start.

Similar Friday-Saturday-Sunday breaks are expected throughout the month on May 8–10, 15–17, and 22–24, especially in offices where Friday is treated as a holiday or work-from-home day under the government’s cost-saving campaign.

The biggest focus is on the expected Eid-ul-Adha holidays, likely to fall in the last week of May.

If the moon for Zil Hajj is sighted on May 17, Eid may be celebrated from May 27 to 29.

Otherwise, it may fall from May 28 to 30, with Sunday, May 31, adding another holiday. In both cases, people may get 3 to 5 continuous days off.

If the government also announces an extra holiday on Monday, May 25, it could create an even longer break of nearly a full week.

Overall, May 2026 could become one of the most holiday-filled months in recent years, bringing both relaxation for families and concerns for businesses over reduced productivity.
