ISLAMABAD: US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to travel to Pakistan for talks with Iranian representatives, the White House said, describing the engagement as “direct talks” facilitated by Islamabad.
The remarks were made by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in an interview with Fox News. It was stated that Pakistan had played the role of an “incredible friend and mediator” throughout the process.
It was confirmed that the US delegation would engage with representatives of the Iranian side, with the talks being intermediated by Pakistan.
However, the prospect of direct engagement was rejected by Tehran. It was stated by Esmaeil Baqaei that no meeting with US officials had been planned.

It was further said that Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, would meet senior Pakistani officials as part of ongoing mediation efforts aimed at ending what was described as an American-imposed war and restoring peace in the region.
Iran’s position would be conveyed to Pakistan, it was added, while no direct Iran-US talks were scheduled.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi’s visit to Islamabad forms part of a broader regional tour, with stops in Muscat and Moscow.
The visit has been aimed at holding bilateral consultations, reviewing regional developments, and assessing the situation arising from the conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran.
