WASHINGTON : U.S. intelligence officials have privately assessed that a significant portion of Iran’s military power remains intact, contradicting more optimistic public statements from President Donald Trump and the Secretary of Defense, according to sources familiar with the findings.
A report by the U.S. Broadcasting Corporation, citing several intelligence officials, reveals that large elements of Iran’s missile forces, air force, and navy have survived recent confrontations.
Specifically, officials said that roughly half of Iran’s ballistic missile stockpile and its associated launch systems remained operational as of the start of the current ceasefire. Additionally, approximately 60 percent of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) naval force is still in place and capable of conducting operations.
The assessment suggests that while U.S. strikes or Israeli actions have degraded some Iranian assets, the overall military structure is far more resilient than has been acknowledged publicly by the Trump administration.
Meanwhile, the office of Iran’s president has denied recent reports suggesting any rift among the country’s top leadership, calling such claims baseless propaganda.
U.S. intelligence officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, declined to comment on whether the administration had deliberately downplayed Iran’s military resilience for political or strategic reasons.
