QUETTA: The first female police officer killed in a militant attack in Balochistan has been hailed as a national symbol of bravery and sacrifice, officials said.
Police said Constable Malak Naz was killed in firing by miscreants in the Bajoi area of Khuzdar district. Authorities said she became the first female police casualty in a terror-related incident in the province.
Babar Yousafzai, Assistant to the Home Department, Government of Balochistan, said the entire nation takes pride in her sacrifice. He said the officer gave her life for the protection of the country and its people.
Yousafzai said Constable Malak Naz set an example of courage and laid down her life in the line of duty. He said the nation pays tribute to her service and sacrifice.
He added that the husband of the martyred officer also served in the Levies Force and was previously targeted in an attack.
Yousafzai said Malak Naz left behind three children. He said her sacrifice remains a matter of national pride.
He said the Balochistan government stands with the families of all martyrs and will ensure full support and assistance.
He added that operations against elements seeking to destabilize peace will continue. He said the blood of martyrs will not go in vain.
