QUETTA: Two police officers, including the province’s first female constable, were killed in a gun battle with militants in Khuzdar district, while several others were wounded, police said.
The clash erupted when police raided the Bajoi area over reports of solar panel theft. Militants opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire. Constable Malik Naz Bibi and Head Constable Samiullah were killed on the spot.
Additional SHO Mohammad Ibrahim and Constable Najeebur Rehman were wounded in the attack. Police said further operations are underway in the area.
In a separate incident in Dasht, counterterrorism officials and police launched a targeted operation against militants. The suspects responded with heavy gunfire and hand grenades.
Head Constable Rehmatullah, a reader to the SP Sariab, was killed during the clash. CTD Sub-Inspector Javed Gul and five other personnel sustained serious injuries. The wounded included Constable Niaz Ahmed, ASI Waqar Ahmed, Head Constable Noorullah, Constable Abdul Aleem, and Constable Taj Mohammad.
Security forces have intensified operations following the attacks.
