ISLAMABAD: The authorities in the federal capital have enforced extensive traffic restrictions and increased security measures following the arrival of foreign delegations, significantly impacting routine movement across the city.
The key areas including the Red Zone and the extended Red Zone have been completely sealed off for all types of traffic as part of strict security arrangements. The measures aim to ensure the safety of visiting dignitaries but have led to considerable disruption for daily commuters.
The Islamabad Traffic Police confirmed that the Expressway from Korral to Zero Point will remain closed, while traffic flow on Srinagar Highway may face intermittent disruptions at various times.
In addition, entry of heavy traffic into the city has been entirely prohibited, with transporters advised to avoid traveling towards Islamabad during this period.
In this sense, authorities have issued an alternative traffic plan. Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 have been directed to use Margalla Road to access 9th Avenue. Similarly, traffic heading from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point has been diverted to 9th Avenue to ease congestion.
In case of closure at Zero Point towards Korral Chowk, commuters are advised to use Srinagar Highway and proceed via 9th Avenue towards Stadium Road, or alternatively use Murree Road through Chandni Chowk to reach Rawal Road.
Meanwhile, individuals commuting between Rawalpindi Saddar and Islamabad have been advised to take Colonel Sher Khan Road, Fakhr-e-Alam (Fakir Aipi) Road, or 9th Avenue.
