US in a ‘Very Weak Position’ in Talks with Iran: Hillary Clinton

WASHINGTON: Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has expressed concern over rising tensions with Iran and stalled negotiations, saying the United States has moved into a “very weak position” and lost diplomatic leverage.

In a television interview, Clinton said Washington should have been in a position to pressure Iran. Instead, she said the balance has shifted and the US has weakened its negotiating power.

She also criticised the current US negotiating team, questioning the involvement of President Donald Trump’s adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, along with Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

Clinton said the current diplomatic approach has undermined America’s position. She added that it has not only affected negotiations but also reduced Washington’s global influence.
