Pakistan Offers to Host as US and Iran Consider Second Round of Talks

ISLAMABAD: The United States and Iran are considering a second round of talks amid ongoing tensions, with Pakistan emerging as a potential host,  international media reported.

Sources familiar with the development told the Associated Press that both sides are weighing fresh direct negotiations to reach an agreement before the current ceasefire expires.

Pakistan has offered to host the talks again, officials said. Islamabad is under consideration as the primary venue, while Geneva has also been considered as an alternative location.

Officials said discussions are ongoing over the timing and venue. The talks could take place as early as Thursday, although no final decision has been announced.

A diplomat from a mediating country said Tehran and Washington have agreed in principle to resume negotiations. However, it remains unclear whether both sides will send delegations at the same level as before.

Speaking to reporters, former US President Donald Trump said, “We have been contacted by the other side,” adding that “they want to make a deal.”
