Authorities dismiss viral Rs 78 Petrol reduction as fake

ISLAMABAD: A fake notification claiming a massive reduction in petroleum product prices has been circulating on social media, prompting authorities to issue a clarification.

 

The fraudulent notification claimed that the price of petrol had been slashed by Rs 78 per liter, setting the new price at Rs 300.41. It further stated that diesel prices were reduced by Rs 100 per liter, bringing the new rate to Rs 420.35.

 

Private TV channel ARY News also aired the news based on the viral notification. However, authorities later stepped in to debunk the claim, confirming that the notification is entirely fake.

 

According to official sources, no such announcement has been made regarding new prices of petroleum products. The government has yet to issue any formal notification or statement on the matter. Citizens are advised to rely only on official channels for updates on fuel prices.
