ISLAMABAD : Senator and advisor to the Prime Minister, Rana Sanaullah, has stated that the government did not increase the prices of petroleum products, asserting that the hike is a direct consequence of ongoing war, while accusing certain elements of trying to incite the public to advance their own agendas.
Speaking to the media, Sanaullah explained that every possible effort was made to keep prices low, and steps were also taken to reduce the burden on the poor. He urged the public to direct their protests not against the government but against Israel, which he blamed for the regional conflict driving up global energy costs.
The prime minister’s advisor emphasized that the government is trying hard to stop the war and mitigate its economic impact. He called on the opposition to strengthen the government’s hands instead of holding protests, arguing that political unity is needed during the current crisis.
Sanaullah’s remarks come amid rising domestic anger over fuel prices, which have surged due to global market volatility linked to ongoing hostilities in the Middle East.
