PM announces fuel subsidy amid rising oil prices

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on fuel for motorcycle owners and goods transporters.

Addressing the nation on television, the Prime Minister said that rising global oil prices due to regional tensions have also affected Pakistan. He acknowledged the difficulties faced by the common man due to inflation and increasing petroleum prices.

PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that the government has taken several steps to provide relief to the public.

He mentioned that the government spent Rs129 billion to shield the common man from inflation and did not pass on the burden of expensive oil for the last three weeks.

He further announced:

  • Rs100 per litre subsidy for motorcycle owners.
  • Rs100 per litre subsidy for goods transport owners for one month.

The Prime Minister said that while long queues for petrol are being seen across the world, Pakistan has managed to avoid such a situation.

He added that efforts are being made to end the ongoing war and establish peace, with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Asim Munir working tirelessly in this regard.
