BANNU: Police successfully foiled two terrorist attacks on Baka Khel Police Station and Fatah Khel checkpost early this morning, officials said.
Authorities said attackers from the group Fitna al-Khawarij retreated after a swift and strong police response.
A fierce gunbattle broke out at Baka Khel police station for 45 minutes and lasted one hour at Fatah Khel checkpost.
During the response, police killed one militant. Several others are believed to have been injured. Authorities recovered a Kalashnikov, hand grenades, and a walkie-talkie from the slain attacker.
Police and security forces are conducting ongoing search and clearance operations in the area.
DIG Bannu Region Sajad Khan and DPO Bannu praised the officers for their timely and effective action.

IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Rahmeed, commended the bravery and dedication of the police, announcing cash awards and certificates of recognition.
The IGP said the police successfully thwarted the terrorists’ plans through prompt, strong, and effective action.
