ABU DHABI: The authorities in the United Arab Emirates have arrested 25 individuals of different nationalities for allegedly spreading false information and praising attacks attributed to Iran against the UAE, according to official sources.
The suspects are accused of using social media platforms and other online channels to circulate misleading narratives and express support for hostile actions targeting the country.
Those detained include 17 Indian nationals, two Pakistanis, two Filipinas, two Nepalese citizens, one Egyptian national, and one individual from Bangladesh.
The UAE has in recent years strengthened its cybercrime and misinformation laws to address the growing influence of digital platforms in shaping public opinion.
The UAE is home to a diverse expatriate population, and authorities have consistently called on all residents to respect the country’s laws and cultural norms.
In this regard, the officials concluded by reaffirming their commitment to ensuring a safe and stable environment for citizens and residents alike while taking firm action against activities that could undermine public order.
