ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said it had foiled an attempt by the Afghan Taliban to send drones into Pakistan. Falling debris from the intercepted drones injured four civilians.
In a statement, ISPR said the incident occurred on March 13, 2026. According to the military, Afghan Taliban elements launched several crude drones in an attempt to intimidate the Pakistani public.
Pakistan’s air defense systems intercepted the drones using both “soft-kill” and “hard-kill” measures. The drones were destroyed before reaching their intended targets, the statement said.
However, debris from the destroyed drones fell in several locations. Two children were injured in Quetta, while one civilian each was wounded in Kohat and Rawalpindi.
The military said the attempted drone intrusion was aimed at spreading fear among civilians. It described the act as evidence of the “terrorist mindset” of the Afghan Taliban.
ISPR also accused the group of presenting itself as a victim to gain international sympathy while simultaneously targeting civilians through proxy militants and drones.
The statement said the people of Pakistan and the country’s armed forces were fully aware of what it described as the true intentions of the group in power in Afghanistan.

ISPR added that Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq would continue until the Afghan Taliban address what Pakistan calls the root problem of cross-border terrorism originating from Afghan territory.
