Iran Not to Participate in 2026 FIFA World Cup

TEHRAN: Ahmad Donyamali, Iran’s sports minister, said the country would not participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup under the current circumstances.

Speaking to state television, Donyamali blamed the decision on the killing of Iran’s leader by what he described as a “corrupt government.” He said recent actions and conflicts against Iran have caused severe damage, making it impossible to send the national team to the tournament.

Iran has already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico.
