QUETTA: Two militants were killed when explosives they were planting on a motorcycle for use in a terrorist attack detonated at a house in Killi Allahabad, in Quetta’s Kachi Baig area, police said.
According to Kachi Baig Station House Officer Mujahid Malghani, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Kachi Baig police station on Friday.
The explosion took place inside a motorcycle parked at a house. As a result, two people were killed at the scene.
Police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel and security forces reached the site soon after the incident.
The area was cordoned off. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for legal formalities.
According to police officials, an initial report by the Bomb Disposal Squad indicated that the explosion occurred while explosives were being planted inside the motorcycle.
The bomb disposal team said around one kilogram of explosive material had been used in the motorcycle.
Following the incident, the CTD registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
Meanwhile, investigators are collecting further evidence from the site. The investigation will focus on determining the motive behind the blast and other related aspects.
