ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gauhar has strongly condemned the recent attacks on Iran while simultaneously urging Tehran to refrain from targeting Muslim countries, as the party outlined its stance on regional security and domestic policy.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gauhar reiterated PTI’s position on regional conflicts, stating, “We strongly condemn the attacks on Iran, we also ask Iran not to attack Muslim countries.” He emphasized that the party had previously advised Afghanistan against becoming a proxy for other powers and requested that Afghan nationals be given sufficient time to relocate from Pakistan.
In a significant accusation, the PTI chairman claimed that India is exploiting its diplomatic presence in the region to destabilize Pakistan. “Our stance is that in the current situation, India is standing behind Afghanistan,” Barrister Gauhar stated. “If a country has five consulates, then all of them are the same. India is committing terrorism under the guise of a consulate” .
Barrister Gauhar also criticized the government’s handling of national security briefings, demanding transparency. “Instead of briefing a few leaders, you should brief the House,” he said, adding that the government has failed to deliver a policy statement on critical matters despite his party’s requests.
On domestic issues, the PTI chairman called for the full implementation of the 14-point National Action Plan (NAP) to counter terrorism . He also lambasted the government over economic policies, particularly the recent hike in petrol prices and the termination of the net metering policy, which he argued has placed an unbearable burden on the public.
Regarding the incarcerated PTI founder, Barrister Gauhar expressed hope for his release, asserting that if judicial decisions had been made according to justice, he would be free. He criticized the legal process, noting that despite dozens of appearances in the High Court, no hearing has been conducted, and he called for lawyers to be granted access to the founder.
