Trump: Iran wants to negotiate; Tehran threatens to block Gulf oil

Trump says Iran war ‘pretty much’ over, progressing ahead of schedule

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has indicated that Tehran is now showing a genuine interest in negotiating a resolution to ongoing tensions, though he cautioned that any potential dialogue remains contingent on specific conditions.

In an interview with a foreign news agency, President Trump stated that talks with Iran are possible, but he expressed significant displeasure regarding Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. President Trump cast doubt on the new leader’s ability to govern peacefully, suggesting it is unlikely he will be able to “live in peace.” The President also claimed that the results of recent US military operations against Iranian targets were “much greater than expected.”

Furthermore, President Trump voiced surprise at the scale of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Gulf countries, raising questions about regional stability.

His comments come amid a backdrop of heightened military rhetoric. In a separate, blunt statement, the US President was quoted as saying, “The Iran war is nearing its end,” and issued a direct threat to the new Iranian leadership, vowing, “will also kill new Iranian leadership.”
