ISLAMABAD: At 1600 hours today, Pakistani security sources released the latest summary of casualties and damage inflicted on Afghan Taliban forces during the ongoing Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, a retaliatory military campaign along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to the update:
- 583 Afghan Taliban fighters killed
- More than 795 injured
- 242 check posts destroyed
- 38 posts captured and destroyed
- 213 tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery guns destroyed
- 64 locations across Afghanistan effectively targeted by air strikes
The operation, launched in response to cross-border aggression and support for terrorist groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij (a term used for Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan elements), involves coordinated ground and air actions by the Pakistan Armed Forces.
Security officials have emphasized that the campaign will persist until credible guarantees are received from the Afghan Taliban regime to cease facilitating terrorism against Pakistan.
Recent actions have focused on border sectors including North and South Waziristan, Chaman, and others, where multiple Taliban positions were neutralized, forcing militants to abandon posts and flee.
The operation remains active, with Pakistani forces maintaining pressure to achieve stated objectives while exercising restraint to minimize civilian impact.
This escalation follows weeks of heightened border tensions, including exchanges of fire and prior airstrikes.
International calls for de-escalation continue amid concerns over regional stability.
Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
