ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reaffirmed his steadfast support for the country’s armed forces, declaring the Pakistan Army as an inviolable “red line” while urging political stakeholders to refrain from targeting soldiers in political discourse.
In a video message released on Saturday, the former foreign minister paid glowing tribute to the nation’s military personnel, emphasizing their sacrifices in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty. He stressed that soldiers stationed along the Line of Control in Kashmir serve a purpose far beyond territorial defense.
“Our soldier standing on the border of Kashmir does not just protect the border,” Bilawal said. “That soldier leaves his home, parents, and children and puts his life in danger to protect Pakistan.”
The PPP chairman reiterated his longstanding position that the armed forces must remain above political debate, asserting that their role and sacrifices deserve unconditional respect rather than scrutiny in political discussions.
“I have said before that Pakistan’s army is our red line,” he declared. “Our soldiers should not be the target of any political discussion. They are the pride of the nation.”
Bilawal also paid homage to the fallen heroes of the nation, including soldiers and police personnel who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. He assured that their contributions would never be forgotten and that the government bore a solemn responsibility toward their families.
“The sacrifices of our martyred soldiers and police personnel can never be forgotten,” he said. “Every sacrifice will be respected, and justice will be given to the families of the martyrs.”
He emphasized that those who sacrifice their today for the nation’s tomorrow deserve the highest honor. “Their honor is our responsibility,” Bilawal added.
The statement comes at a time when political discourse in the country has frequently touched upon institutional matters, with the PPP chairman calling for a unified approach that respects the military’s constitutional role and acknowledges the immense human cost of defending the nation.
