Militants Open Fire on Passenger Coaches in Khuzdar; Several Injured

Five Killed and 25 Injured in Bus Collision Near Narang Mandi

KHUZDAR : A brazen attack by unidentified armed assailants on two passenger coaches in the Zawah area of Khuzdar on Saturday sparked panic, resulting in a collision between the vehicles and leaving several passengers injured, while authorities remained conspicuously silent on the incident.

Eyewitnesses reported that more than a dozen armed men suddenly emerged on the roadway and opened indiscriminate fire on the two coaches traveling through the area. The sudden volley of gunfire sent passengers into a state of terror, and the panicked drivers lost control of their vehicles, causing the two coaches to crash into each other.

The impact of the collision left multiple passengers wounded. Rescue sources confirmed that the injured were immediately shifted to the Trauma Center Khuzdar for emergency medical treatment. However, the exact number of casualties remained unconfirmed at the time of filing this report, as officials did not release an official count.

The wrecked coaches became entrenched in the middle of the thoroughfare following the firing and subsequent crash, leading to a complete suspension of traffic on the route. Vehicular movement came to a grinding halt as commuters were stranded on both sides of the blocked road.

Local residents voiced grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, stating that incidents of snatch firing have become disturbingly routine in the region. “An endless series of fear has begun,” a local eyewitness lamented, highlighting the growing sense of insecurity among civilians who rely on public transport.

On the administrative front, authorities failed to inspire public confidence. When this correspondent attempted to contact local police officials for a statement regarding the attack or any investigative measures being taken, no response was received from the law enforcement agency, raising further questions about the security apparatus in the distric.
