Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, conducted a one-day visit to the border district of Chaman on Sunday,

QUETTA: In a joint operation against smuggled goods, the Balochistan Police handed over 24 non-custom-paid vehicles to Pakistan Customs on Thursday. The vehicles, valued at approximately Rs80 million, were seized during an ongoing crackdown by the Quetta Police.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, handed over the vehicles to Collector Customs Balochistan, Dr. Karam Elahi, at a ceremony held at the Central Police Office. Senior officials from both departments were in attendance.

Speaking on the occasion, IGP Tahir stated that the campaign against the use and sale of non-custom-paid vehicles is being vigorously pursued. He noted that such vehicles are frequently involved in criminal activities and create legal complications due to their lack of proper documentation with police and excise departments. He reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to working with all law enforcement agencies to combat smuggling, drug trafficking, and other crimes.

Collector Customs Dr. Karam Elahi praised the Balochistan Police for their cooperation. He highlighted that the use of non-custom-paid vehicles not only facilitates smuggling but also causes billions of rupees in annual losses to the national exchequer. He said the crackdown is part of a joint action plan with the police to curb this illegal trade.

Earlier, DIG Quetta Imran Shaukat formally handed over the vehicles at the Police Lines. He confirmed that the vehicles were taken into custody during police operations and were being handed over to customs after completing all legal formalities.
