The Eid-ul-Fitr eagerly awaited across the country, a fresh update from the Pakistan Meteorological Department has added a significant development to the growing anticipation.
There is no possibility of sighting the Shawwal moon on the 29th fast this year, indicating that Ramadan is likely to complete a full 30 days.
The department stated that the new moon will be born on March 19 at 6:23 a.m. However, astronomical calculations suggest that by the time of sunset on the same day, the moon’s age will be between 12 to 13 hours a duration considered insufficient for visibility.
In this regard, the government focused on that the evening of March 19, corresponding to the 29th of Ramadan, will not provide favorable conditions for moon sighting.
The Meteorological Department clarified that while it provides technical and astronomical guidance, the authority to officially declare the sighting of the moon rests with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
The committee’s formal decision will ultimately determine the date of Eid.
The development has created widespread discussion as preparations for Eid intensify in markets and households.
Traders, travelers, and families planning celebrations are closely monitoring updates, as even a single day’s difference can significantly impact arrangements.
