KOHAT: A senior police officer, along with two others, was killed when militants ambushed a police van in Kohat on Tuesday.
District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed the unfortunate attack and casualties saying the police van was on routine patrol when unknown militants ambushed the van on the Shakardara–Lachi Road. After the attack, the assailants set the vehicle on fire, destroying it completely.
Police and security forces quickly reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation.
The three officers, including DSP Asad Mehmood, were martyred while performing their duty. The bodies were taken to a nearby hospital, and any injured personnel received immediate medical attention.
Authorities said preliminary evidence suggests the attack was carefully planned. Forensic teams collected evidence at the site, and checkpoints have been established to track the attackers. Search and combing operations are ongoing in nearby areas to apprehend the militants.

The attack caused panic in the area, and security forces have been placed on high alert. Officials vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
