ISLAMABAD: Apple is set to begin manufacturing iPhones in Pakistan under a new Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Policy prepared by the Ministry of Industries and Production.
The policy, created at Apple’s request, offers incentives such as discounted land, 8% concessions, and the requirement to refurbish older iPhones for export.
In the first year, exports of refurbished iPhones are expected to generate around $100 million. Apple plans to refurbish 2–3-year-old iPhones, similar to its programs in Indonesia, Malaysia, and India.
