BHAKKAR: In the suburban area of Barkat Wala near Bhakkar, miscreants severely assaulted a van driver after he intervened to stop them from harassing female college students.
According to police, a few troublemakers attempted to harass the girls, prompting the van driver, Qasim, to step in and warn them to stop.
Enraged by his interference, the suspects called their accomplices and launched a brutal attack on Qasim.
Reports indicate that four individuals subjected him to extreme violence, leaving him in a half-dead condition before fleeing the scene.
Taking notice of the incident, DPO Bhakkar Shahzad Rafiq immediately ordered the registration of a case.
Police stated that raids are being conducted at various locations to apprehend the suspects, who will soon be brought to justice.
DPO Shahzad Rafiq emphasized that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against those who harass women and girls, and such lawless elements deserve no leniency.
He assured that the perpetrators would be arrested promptly and presented before the law.
