PM announces Ramadan Relief Package of 38 billion

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a Rs38 billion Ramadan Relief Package, under which every eligible family will receive Rs13,000.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that the blessed month of Ramadan is approaching. In this sacred month, Muslims share their resources with suffering humanity.

He stated that the government has ended the outdated system previously used to provide relief to the public during Ramadan.

He explained that in the past, relief was provided through Utility Stores, where the quality of food items was extremely poor and the purchasing process was also very cumbersome.

Last year, the government bid farewell to this obsolete system.

The Prime Minister further said that last Ramadan, deserving families were provided cash transfers through a digital system.

Although there were numerous challenges in introducing the new system, they were successfully overcome.

A cell was established to listen to public complaints and resolve them.

He revealed that last Ramadan, Rs20 billion was distributed transparently and without delay among the deserving people.

For the current year’s Ramadan Relief Package, Rs38 billion has been allocated.

This amount will be distributed not only across all four provinces but also in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir to eligible families.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that payments to deserving families will be made through bank accounts and digital wallets.

The Rs38 billion will be distributed among 12.1 million eligible families. Every deserving family will receive Rs13,000 without any discrimination or distinction.

He added that he will personally review the program’s implementation on a regular basis to ensure its effective execution.
