Imran Khan can go abroad for treatment if required, says Tariq Fazal Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has stated that the health of the PTI founder Imran Khan remains a priority for the government, adding that he will be sent abroad for treatment if required.

Speaking on Samaa News programme ‘Nadeem Malik Live’, Chaudhry said the government holds no personal grudge or enmity against the incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan. “If the founder is willing to undergo treatment at Al-Shifa, we have no objection. If he wants a check-up, he should definitely get it done,” he said.

The minister described the Imran Khan eye disease as “reversible and repairable”, asserting that complete treatment could cure the condition. He referred to a PIMS report indicating the eye is fine following treatment, and dismissed a report by lawyer Salman Safdar as non-medical. Chaudhry confirmed that the Imran Khan was transferred to PIMS on his own request and receives daily check-ups.

Meanwhile, President of Al-Shifa Eye Trust Major General (R) Rahmat Khan said the trust is not involved in politics and treats all patients equally. “If an ordinary prisoner is in pain, we welcome him. Afghans come to us crying, and we treat them. If the Khan is brought, I assure the best possible care,” he said, adding that he has not been contacted regarding the founder’s condition and is unaware of the specific disease.

Senator Humayun Mohmand alleged negligence, claiming the founder repeatedly complained of weakening eyesight but received no attention. “This is a crime,” he said, also alleging that an anti-venom GF injection was administered intentionally at midnight. He expressed faith in Pakistani doctors but accused the government of deliberate harm.
