The significant development has emerged in the Gul Plaza tragedy case, drawing fresh public attention as four eyewitnesses recorded their statements before the Judicial Magistrate South, Asim Aslam. The proceedings, held in the magistrate’s court, introduced first-hand accounts that could play a decisive role in shaping the direction of the case.
In this sense, three shop employees and a 13-year-old student appeared before the court to present their version of events related to the fire incident that shook the commercial area earlier this year. The witnesses identified as Aryan, Talha, Waheed, and Hamza provided detailed narratives of what they observed on January 17, the day of the tragic incident.
The youngest witness, 13-year-old Aryan, described his movements throughout the evening and his interaction with another child present at the shop where the fire reportedly originated. Aryan told the court that the child was alone at the shop and had access to matchboxes.
Talha, informed the court that the fire suddenly erupted in a nearby shop while he and others were present at their workplace. He stated that initial attempts were made to control the fire, but its intensity forced them to prioritize their own safety and evacuate the area.
Furthermore, Waheed, also a shop employee, recalled hearing noises moments before the fire became visible. He described efforts to remove flammable materials from the shop, noting that the presence of additional combustible items caused the fire to spread rapidly.
Hamza, the fourth witness, told the court that flames were already intense by the time water was used to extinguish them, leaving no option but to flee the scene to save lives.
